Stop Believing These Auto Repair Myths
Few industries have as many misconceptions as the auto industry. This is especially true when it comes to service and repair. Here our Hyundai automotive repair center goes over some repair myths you shouldn’t believe.
The Check Engine Light Isn’t a Big Deal
Your car has a built-in system that monitors key components. And when something is wrong with a part or system, you will get a notification in the form of an icon lighting up on your dashboard.
You shouldn’t ignore any of these warnings, particularly the check engine light. While sometimes addressing is as simple as tightening your gas cap, it could also be the sign of a serious issue. This why your car needs to be checked out as quickly as possible.
You Can’t Fix a Tire After Running Over a Nail
Running over a nail or another sharp object that punctures a tire is fairly common, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to get a new tire. Holes can often be patched, which will end up saving you a lot of money. Of course, if the tire is old and worn down, it makes more sense to have it replaced.
Oil Changes are No Longer Necessary
You probably don’t need to change your oil every 3,000 miles anymore; that much is true. Thanks to improvements and advancements with oil and engines, oil can stay in fine condition for a lot longer.
However, to keep an engine running well, it still does need to be changed regularly. Depending on your car and the type of oil you use, you may not need to change it until closer to 10,000 miles. Regardless of miles, oil changes are still recommended about every six months.
