The SUV is based on a dedicated electric vehicle platform called the Electric-Global Modular Platform, which will also be the foundation for future Hyundai EVs. The SUV is officially rated to tow up to 2,000 pounds and reach a top speed of 115 miles.
Another standout aspect of the electric powertrain on the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 is that the battery can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes with an 800-volt DC ultra-fast charger. With a standard 10.9-kilowatt on-board charger, you can go from 10 to 100 percent in about seven hours.
