Long one of the most popular Hyundai models, the Hyundai Tucson seemingly has something for everyone. It’s compact, capable, and efficient. The 2024 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) doubles down on these strengths with an even more efficient plug-in powertrain.
Powertrain Availability and Performance
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson PHEV comes in SEL Convenience and Limited trims. Both models use an engine with 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD). The battery can replenish in about two hours when connected to a level 2, 240-volt outlet.
Interior
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson PHEV can seat up to five passengers across two rows, with the Limited trim adding a heated steering wheel and heated front and rear seats.
The SUV offers 31.9 cubic feet of storage space behind the second row and 66.3 cubic feet with those seats folded down. The hands-free power liftgate, available in the SEL trim onward, lets you open the trunk by kicking under the rear bumper for effortless access.
Technology
All 2024 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid trims upgrade to a 10.3-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and an onboard SiriusXM® app. The Limited trim adds a standard eight-speaker Bose® premium audio system.
Like other new Hyundai models, you can remotely lock and unlock your car’s doors and start the engine by connecting to the Hyundai Digital Key smartphone app. Both trims feature wireless charging.
Safety
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid includes similar safety features as other models at our San Diego Hyundai dealership. This year sees some new features, like a seatbelt pre-tensioner and all-seat seatbelt reminder. Several Hyundai SmartSense® features, like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, also come standard.
The Limited trim is worthwhile for the safety upgrades alone. It adds front and rear parking distance warnings so you can navigate into a parking spot without hitting nearby objects, and Blind-Spot View and Surround View Monitors that grant an unimpeded view of your vehicle’s exterior. Available adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist maintains your preset following distance and speed.
